Sam: [Sam and Tess are both mildly drunk. Tess’s head is resting on Sam] There’s something I have to get off my chest… 

Tess: [starts to get up] I’m too heavy… 
Sam: [smiles] No. I love you. 
Tess: You do? 
Sam: Positive. 
Tess: [sighs] That’s nice. Even when I’m sober? 
Sam: Even when you’re brilliant. 

Now all that was left has been burned. I have dug the grave to which we will lay our unspoken words and questions, pretenses and subdued grief. In an hour, the gods that bring rain will arrive. In a moment, the floods will rise and the earth will succumb. Soon everything that was written will be lost forever and only the moon, only the moon will be reminded.

The complexities arise when I ask what I am. What I am doing and why I’m doing these things. What I want and why I want them. Why I believe this world I’m living in, this piece of earth beneath my soles has grown stranger and stranger over the past centuries of my existence that the now has become so detached with the so-called reality.

 I am now resigned.
